TamaWrap is designed to handle very adverse weather conditions from temperatures well over 100 degrees in the coastal bend of Texas to the other extreme weather conditions of the Kansas plains with temperatures below 32 degrees and it will still perform without issue.
If harvesting in temperatures below 50F, please ask your local John Deere Dealer about Arctic wrap – it is designed to perform in cold weather conditions.
How many times can a wrapped round module be moved?
TamaWrap is designed to handle numerous radical movements from the time it is first wrapped and laid out onto the John Deere handler until it is taken the gin’s feeder floor.

What is the TamaWrap+® wrapping process?
The TamaWrap® is fed into the John Deere On Board Module cotton harvester.
The wrap portion is fed around the module by the feeding mechanism.
The Z-LOCK™ is activated to seperate the wrap from the roll and to secure the tail of the wrap.
The round module is ejected from the John Deere On Board Module cotton harvester to the handler while the harvesting continues.

What is the recommended way to transport a TamaWrap® module?
Module trucks: As modules wrapped with TamaWrap® Blue may squat more, when using module trucks module diameter should not exceed 100 inches (254 CM). Thus, maximum recommended harvester monitor set size is 92”, If larger than 100”, further reduce the set size.
Insure that recommended chains are used on module trucks. It is HIGHLY recommended to use appropriate chains while using module trucks, in order to minimize the risk of damaged modules and decrease the risk of contamination.
Other trucks: make sure there are no sharp edges or other sharp objects which may cause tears in modules.
What is the recommended Lift Capacity?
The recommended lift capacity: 4,400 lbs (2 tons) forklift.
What is the proper way of storing TamaWrap®?
TamaWrap® Storage Requirements are as follows: Store under roof in an enclosed structure and avoid exposure to sunlight and moisture while stored. Double stacking of pallets is permissible with proper handling equipment. Please note that TamaWrap® is to be used within two seasons.
What is the best way to handle a TamaWrap® module?
As a general recommendation - Handle the module with care and do not allow the module to drag on the ground or on stalks during staging.
When using spear loaders - Do not allow module to drag on the ground when inserting or withdrawing spears.
When using rear and front loaders - Make sure arms are completely on the ground before opening and closing to avoid “over squeezing".
What does it mean to Trace TamaWrap+®?
Every TamaWrap+® includes 4 RFID tags to provide unique identification to each module. This unique identification enables full traceability of individual modules through harvesting and processing:
With TamaWrap+® technology, you can trace your modules from the field, through the gin’s gateway, scale and yard- to the feeder floor. Tracing allows association of the ginned bale related data - back to the seed cotton module and back to the field. Also, the technology is integrated with John Deere Harvest ID, Cotton Pro and the John Deere Operations Center.
What are the Unwrapping Recommendation for TamaWrap® module?
Examine module carefully PRIOR to unwrapping / cutting and remove any and ALL loose pieces of plastic and other potential contaminants.
Gins that cut wrap: Use the Tama Cut Indicator™ to locate the recommended cutting zone (3 feet / 1 meter) from the Tama Cut Indicator™, with the direction of the arrows. Make ONE clean cut across the module, rather than several short cuts. Make certain ALL pieces of wrap are removed after unwrapping/cutting.
What are the proper staging instructions?
Proper module staging impacts the ability and reliability of module truck pickup and subsequent ginning. Make sure to follow the proper procedure for staging cotton modules for pickup by properly equipped module trucks or moon buggies. Failure to follow these instructions can adversely affect the integrity of the modules.
Modules should be staged on a high flat surface. Staging on well-defined flat driveways or a flat disked surface is optimal.
When choosing a staging location, ask yourself “Can a module truck retrieve from this location after a significant amount of rain?”
If a module truck tires and/or tracks have to slip to gather the load, damage may occur to the underside of the module due to relative chain slip.
If at all possible do not stage modules on top of rows or beds or internal portion of field where module truck access will be difficult. Modules will take the shape of the surface they are placed on. Setting on beds or uneven surfaces requires digging into the ground with the module truck chain to safely get under the entire surface of the module.
Module Truck or Moon Buggy Requirements
A proper module truck loading and unloading of round modules impacts the ability and reliability of subsequent ginning of these modules. Be sure to share this important information with all truck drivers and use the following check list to verify they have the proper equipment to handle the modules:
Module trucks with 12 bed chains must have inside eight chains replaced with Stover RMS chain to prevent damage to the module plastic wrap.
Module trucks with 11 bed chains must have inside seven chains replaced with Stover RMS chain to prevent damage to the module plastic wrap.
As a final check, nonStover RMS chain is only allowed within 17 in. (43 cm) of module truck inside wall surfaces.
If chain tail wheels are the sprocket style, paddle style with sharp points, or narrower than 2 in. (5 cm), replace with wide smooth paddle style tail wheels.
For moon buggys, enough strands of chains must be replaced to the middle of the width to accommodate a 1.5 m (5 ft.) flat portion of a module, regardless of the side to side placement of the module. As with a module truck, no more than 17 in. (43 cm) of non-Stover RMS chain is allowed from the extreme inside width of the moon buggy to prevent damage to the plastic wrap.
Verify accurate synchronization of truck or moon buggy bed to ground speed per manufacturer’s owner’s manual.
Many module trucks have the chain speed biased to run slightly faster than the ground speed. This is not permissible with round modules and will cause cutting on the underside of the modules during loading and unloading.
Do not attempt to load round modules if not properly staged.
Verify that module group and individual modules have been identified per farmer and gin instructions before loading.
Do not add 2”x 4” boards or other spacers to the troughs in between the module truck bed chains. The spacers will increase the friction between the underside of the module and the truck bed and can cause wrap damage.
Daily inspect for and remove any sharp edges on the module truck side panels or other areas where round modules can contact.
Rubber or steel cleat tracks are highly recommended when handling round modules in wet or sandy conditions.
How to transport TamaWrap® modules to the gin?
Unlike the traditional square modules which can be transport only by module trucks, TamaWrap® maintains the module’s round shape with minimum expansion - allowing transport to the gin with various transportation means such as flatbed truck, Stover truck, road train and more.
Recommendations are: Standard Module Truck, Flatbed Truck or a Road Train.
How to optimize your feeding system in a few simple steps?
Check if any of the metal fingers of the duckbill are in contact with the picker belts. Adjust if needed. Then, confirm front set of wrap floor belts are adjusted and functioning properly.
How to Install TamaWrap® in my cotton harvester?
Five rolls of 24 individual TamaWrap® are each manually loaded by two people onto the John Deere On Board Module cotton harvester.
To ensure correct installation of the TamaWrap® on the JD On Board Module cotton harvester, every core is marked on its left hand side with black dots or blue stripe on the core and a label inside the core.

What is the difference between 25-micron and 22-micron thicknesses as far as use by the farmer?
Assuming the ‘mechanical properties’ of the film are good enough, which most top manufacturers are, the main guarantee of good silage concerning the film, is that it seals well, and each application overlaps the last by at least 50%, with the best results coming from the application of at least 6 film layers. The actual difference in thickness of film going onto the bale, after the stretching rollers, is insignificant.
How many bales will a roll of 1,500m film make?
If the film is stretched by 70%, you should expect to obtain at least 22 bales when applying 6 film layers. If only applying 4 film layers, the number of bales possible will be 33. These calculations are based on a 4ft (1.22mt) x 4ft (1.22mt) round bale.
Why are silage bales better than pit or clamp silage?
Wrapped silage bales are convenient to handle, store, and transport, making feeding out easier and more efficient. If feeding extremely large cattle herds, in one location, pit or clamp silage can be more suitable, however, the amount of silage exposed to the air, once the pit or clamp is open, means there is more silage at risk of spoilage.
Why do I get long tales on the bale after baling?
There are many reasons, the most obvious being the tack level on the film, allowing it to stick to the bale surface when the wrapping is finished. Other reasons may be that the film is not stretched correctly, making it loose on application and unable to ‘grip’ to the previous layer. More commonly, the cutting problem is because the knife is not sharp enough and the film does not immediately separate fully from the roll and the bale eventually pulls it apart when it is dropped off the wrapper, leaving a twisted tail of film that can never attach itself to the bale surface.

Is it better to use a wide Netwrap to achieve a full bale covering?
Most baler chambers are between 117cm and 123cm. Tama’s netwrap is 1.23m wide and designed to cover the bale from edge to edge, in all round balers, often covering a bit more, and is better than most 1.25cm netwraps.
How many bales can be made from one roll of Netwrap?
This depends upon bale diameter and crop type, Tama has recommendations on how many wraps should be applied, which can be found on the sleeve, in the booklet attached to the roll, and on our website www.tama.co.il.
What are the benefits of Tama Premium net?
Original Edge to Edge coverage, from Tama’s Edge to Edge patent and more feet per roll at the same weight as ‘traditional’ netwrap, that means: more bales per roll, less roll changeovers, less rolls needed to store, less plastic used to bale the same number of bales, and a better cost per bale. Tama net is weight optimized but stronger.

Netwrap Baling Tips
When using Round Bale Netwrap, a few moments must be taken to ensure correct preparation of your machine in order to achieve the best results. The most common problems of net splitting, tearing, or fouling on feed rollers arise from the net ‘laddering’, where threads become broken, leading to a running stitch in the net running opposite to the direction of the net, eventually causing the net to separate where the ‘ladder’ has occurred. This can be caused by many different and varying circumstances but will always have the same ‘ladder’ effect.
Check that the area in which the roll sits is free from dirt and debris. Ensure that all metal surfaces the net comes into contact with are free from rust or sharp edges or weld spots (net box sides, spreader bars and rollers etc.), or dried paint ‘lumps’ on any surfaces which could damage the net. Clean up with emery paper if necessary. Also, check that the path for the net to the bale behind the feed mechanism is not dirty or rusty, which could restrict the net’s passage when feeding – often identified by a ‘lump’ of net at the start of the wrapping cycle. This is especially important when starting baling after winter storage.
Ensure the net is threaded correctly. Incorrect feeding of the net will cause incorrect tension being applied, leading to feeding and cutting difficulties which, in turn, will cause problems on subsequent net feed cycles. Where the net is fed through a series of fixed tension bars, always make sure these are clean and polished to avoid excessive friction. Excessive net friction or an uneven surface will cause the net to tear.
Where two rollers are used to feed the net, it is imperative these are correctly aligned and tensioned against one another, to enable the net to feed in evenly and under the correct tension. Incorrectly aligned rollers will produce a corresponding uneven net feed and subsequent cutting action at the end of the wrapping cycle. This will result in poor bale coverage and possible net fouling on the feed rollers at the start of the next cycle. The rollers’ surface should also be closely inspected for abrasions or damage, which could snag the net when feeding.
Ensure the feed rollers are clean of any moisture or residue. Never use an aggressive cleaning agent such as petrol or turpentine to clean rubber rollers.
Always dust rubber rollers down with French chalk or talc powder when loading a new roll of Netwrap, or use anti-static spray to reduce net static when operating. This avoids the net fouling and wrapping around the rollers when feeding in.
Carefully inspect the condition of the belt joiners on variable chamber balers for damage or worn connections, as this will snag the net and cause a tear, which will split the net on the bale.
Make sure the knife or cutting surface is clean and undamaged. Poor cutting action will result in an uneven ‘tail’ to the net, which can become tangled in the rollers and feed mechanism.

How should I connect the spools in the twine box?
Each operator has their preferred type of knot. The most ideal knot should be compact and easily pass through the guides and tensioners, without coming un-tied. In addition, make sure the twines are routed properly within the baler, per the manufacturer's instructions provided with the baler. A few common knots for connecting spools may be square knots, reef knots, surgeon’s knots or fisherman’s knots, among others.
How many square bales will a pack or spool make?
Calculate the amount of twine needed per bale. Bale length (X2) + bale height (X2) x number of knotters (4, 5, 6 or 8 knotters depending on baler) = total amount of twine used per bale.
Example:
Bale Length: 2.4 meters
Bale Height: 0.9 meters
# of Knotters: 6
((2.4 X 2) + (0.9 X 2)) X 6 = 39.6 meters of twine needed per bale.
We also recommend adding some additional length for the twine needed for each knot on the bale. (1.2m additional length for a double knotter; 0.6m additional length for a single knotter, per bale)

Twine Baling Tips
Large Square Baling
Very careful attention should be paid to the bale pressure, depending on the type and condition of the crop being baled. During periods of extended dry and hot weather, for instance, straw bales may be noticeably lighter than during normal conditions, with the baler set to the same bale pressure setting.
In these circumstances, a decrease in pressure setting will overcome this; or, alternatively, a move to the next heavier twine is recommended.
For baling good quality large square silage bales, it is important to follow a few simple guidelines:
Ensure the crop has wilted to a minimum of 40 – 50% dry matter (DM), which will produce well-formed bales as well as excellent fermentation.
Ensure the twine box tension is reduced as much as possible, as twine friction experienced between silage bales during baling is much greater than between straw bales.
Eliminate as much air as possible from the crop when baling, as it is essential that sufficient crop is packed into the top of the bale to avoid misshapen bales being formed, which may be difficult for an automatic bale-wrapper to handle properly. A reduction in forward speed will help to achieve this by increasing the number of wads per bale.
What to look for when buying your baler twine?
Raw Materials
Ensure that the twine has been produced with raw materials from ISO-approved producers.
Poor quality raw materials can lead to poor quality end products.
Easy Feed
With some makes of twine, the spool centre may frequently collapse, causing difficulties when attempting to draw the first few hundred metres from the spool. Choosing a twine with a larger diameter centre, that allows the twine to flow freely from the beginning, will eliminate such problems.
Kinked Twine
A consistent and smooth shape to the twine will eliminate potential ‘hang-ups’ in its path through the baler and the knotter mechanism, reducing costly downtime when baling.
Fibrillation
When buying Big Bale twines, ensure that the twine has high fibrillation.This guarantees a uniform and consistent twist and higher performance through the knotting mechanism. A highly fibrillated twine will give optimum knot strength and also help avoid knot slippage

Within Tama, we incorporate additional PCR polypropylene into other products such as netwrap cradles, end bungs, carrying handles and other packaging components. In addition, the excess PCR material helps to reduce the plastic impact within the automotive and construction industries in what’s called an open loop process.
Can used baler twine be recycled?
Yes! Tama has partnered with a revolutionary plastic recycler in the Netherlands, called Healix. Together, we’ve perfected the process to recycle used twine from Europe and successfully incorporate the Post Consumer Resin (PCR), back into what we call TamaCycle twine products. Tama Cycle Twine contains at least 30% PCR & closes the loop, in a full circle, multiple lifespan, sustainable product.
Will I need to adjust my baler to use Tama twine?
Like all makes of twine, some balers may require slight adjustment to obtain the best knotting performance between different twine types and producers.

How many bales can I make with a full baler load of IMPAX technology twines?
The short answer: Many more bales! If we look at one example: We produce our standard Tama Twine+ 4,000’/ 650, which would make approximately 895 (3X4X8’) bales. If the new John Deere XtraTwine+ with IMPAX Technology 4,800’/ 700 spools were used, an operator could make approximately 1,074 bales per baler load. That’s an increase of 179 more bales in every baler load of IMPAX Twine!
What is the main ingredient used to manufacture baler twine?
Tama twines contain nearly 100% high quality polypropylene, combined with colour pigment, proprietary additives and UV stabilizers. We only use the highest quality resins and additives to provide premium mechanical properties & workability in the field.
What is fibrillation?
Fibrillation is the name to describe the fine mesh-like appearance of the twine when un-twisted.
It is a part of the production process designed to make twine softer and more flexible to assist with tighter knot formation & knot holding capability.
Quality fibrillation allows the twine to perform seamlessly in the tying system of the baler.
When was the first knotter developed?
The first baler knotting system was patented by John Appleby in 1878 in the USA.
Since then, some modifications have been made by various engineers, but the concept largely remains the same.
Can different twines be used in the same baler?
It depends… Double tie knotters tie an upper and lower twine together, so it’s recommended to use the same twine in the upper and lower twines, to reduce knot slippage and mis-ties. If the upper and lower twines are the same, each knotter can theoretically use a different twine, but the knotters need to be adjusted to accept the different twines. Tama recommends using the same, high quality twine on both the upper and lower twines, to prevent any issues in the field.
Is twine color important and does it affect performance?
The color of the twine has no impact on the strength or knotting performance.
Many advancements in raw material and color pigment carriers have reduced the differences in how different colors perform in a baler.
Not all manufacturers use high quality color additives, but with Tama, you know what to expect, consistency and reliability.
